June 18, 2008: Workshop Vision for an Organic Food and Farming Research Agenda 2025

(May 20, 2008) On the 18th of June 2008 a workshop on the Vision for an Organic Food and Farming Research Agenda 2025 will take place fom 11.15 to 1 pm in the frame of the 16th IFOAM Organic World Congress of the 2008 in Modena, Italy. The venue is Palazzo Carandini.

About

Organic farming is a productive low-input agricultural system, emphasising sustainability and offering innovative concepts for global problems. The IFOAM-EU Group and ISOFAR have developed a strategic research program that focuses on ecological intensification, sustainable rural regions, high quality food for healthy nutrition and on integrating people and their ethical values into the future evolvement of food production. The workshop invites farmers, processors, traders, NGOs and scientists to debate how the practical and scientific aspects should co-operate on future innovations.

Vision for an Organic Food and Farming Research Agenda 2025: Public discussion

(April 30, 2008) The IFOAM EU Group and ISOFAR have joined forces in initiating the process of drawing up a Research Vision 2025 for Organic Food and Farming. This document aims to outline the future challenges in the area of food and agriculture and the potential of organic food and farming which emphasises sustainability, high quality, ethical concepts and social cohesion.

Until May 12, 2008 the document Vision for an Organic Food and Farming Research Agenda 2025 was open for public discussion in a second public online consultation: stakeholders of the whole organic production and processing chain, the economic sector, the industry, national and regional authorities, researchers, European NGOs and the civil society were welcome to contribute to the document.
